Signature Flight Support is ramping up for the 2020 collegiate football finals, hosted at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Operators can expect a high volume of aircraft operations at all nearby airports from Friday, January 10th
to Tuesday, January 14th.
The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to impose a Temporary Flight Restriction immediately surrounding the game. This includes:
Signature New Orleans Lakefront is located on the north side of New Orleans, adjacent to Lake Pontchartrain. Lakefront Airport is the closest destination to the event venue, and provides quick access to the famed French Quarter.
Slots are not required, but reservations are highly suggested. Operators arriving close to the kickoff time can expect remote parking. Aircraft will be parked in precedence of their departure time. West ramp remote parking will be occupied first, and 36R/18L will be closed, and used for further aircraft overflow.
Signature NEW will host a game day viewing party, with three separate viewing areas and local New Orleans style catering.
Signature New Orleans Int'l is located at the west end of New Orleans, and is the primary commercial service airport for the area. Signature MSY is close to the venue, but is also expected to be a quieter alternative to the New Orleans Lakefront Airport.
Signature MSY anticipates using the ramp directly adjacent to the FBO, but remote parking at the former commercial airline terminal may be necessary for some aircraft. Signature MSY is able to accommodate transport category aircraft.
