Mobile was described by National Geographic Traveler as being "one of the top 50 places to live and stay" in the U.S. No matter what time of the year it is, you'll always find an incredible choice of indoor and outdoor activities and some of the finest golf courses in the U.S. You might also be interested to know that Mobile is the birthplace of Mardi Gras in 1703 (before New Orleans).

Things you can do

1 Mardi Gras: Experience the sights and sounds of live marching bands and brilliant-colored floats and of course the crowds of parade goers that are part of the 'original' Mardi Gras, that takes place in Mobile now until February 21.
2 Mobile Opera: Founded in 1946, Mobile Opera is Alabama's oldest performing arts organization and is recognized by Opera America as the 15th opera company established in the United States.
3 5 Rivers - Alabama's Delta Resource Center: An exciting new facility for outdoor recreation and conservation, located at the estuary of the Mobile, Spanish, Tensaw, Apalachee and Blakeley rivers. Open daily from 8 am to 5 pm.
4 Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center & IMAX Theater: Mobile's premier hands-on science museum. Open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm; Saturday from 10 am to
5 pm and Sunday from Noon to 5 pm.
5 Mobile Museum of Art: Expanded in 2002, the Mobile Museum of Art in beautiful Langan Park is the largest art museum along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Tampa. Open Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm.
6 Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail: 18 golf courses designed by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. makes Mobile one of the top ten golfing destinations in the U.S and "one of the eight best places to spend a winter vacation".

MOB: Mobile Regional Airport

Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), is both a public and military use airport located
11 miles (20 kms) west of Mobile. The airport is also home to Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, providing advanced training to U.S. Coast Guard pilots and aircrew.
