This month: Frankfurt am Main

Frankfurt, Germany

Originally one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire, Frankfurt Am Main, commonly known as Frankfurt, has lost none of its grandeur. Sometimes humorously referred to as Mainhattan, the city features some of the highest, most avant-garde skyscrapers of Europe, that together form a unique and impressive skyline. In stark contrast, Frankfurt's historical center (the Altstadt) with its middle-aged style buildings is mostly reconstructed.

FRA: Frankfurt Airport

FRA: Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport is the biggest German airport and among the busiest in Europe - third in passenger traffic after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle. The airport is connected to downtown Frankfurt by taxi, bus (Line 61 to Frankfurt Südbahnhof) and most easily by S-Bahn (fast commuter trains). The train ride from the airport to the city center takes approximately 14 minutes. Alternatively if you choose to drive yourself, the A3, A67 and A5 motorways all lead directly into Frankfurt.
