Omaha has been recognized as the number one "Best Bang-For-The Buck City" on the Forbes list. As the largest city in the state of Nebraska, located in the Midwestern United States on the Missouri River, Omaha hosted the U.S. Olympic swim trials in 2008, and will do so again from June 25 through July 2, 2012. It has a rich cultural background and has become an important city in the music scene, the "Omaha Sound", defining an important trend across the nation.


Things you can do

1 Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo: Home to the world's largest indoor desert, nocturnal exhibits and one of the world's largest indoor rainforests. Skyfari, the aerial tram transports guests to a new view of the zoo. Open daily from 9am to 5pm.
2 Love's Jazz and Arts Center: This state-of-the-art facility features the Preston Love gallery, Omaha's own legendary Jazz musician, and is committed to the preservation and advancement of African American arts. The Center features performance based arts, guided tours and gallery talks. Open Tuesday to Friday 11am to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 3pm.
3 El Museo Latino: The first Latino history and art museum in the Midwest. The historic South 24th Street is bursting with Mexican tradition from folk art, murals on the buildings and pottery, to authentic cuisine and some of the most unique pastries you'll ever savor. Open Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10am to 5pm; Tuesday & Thursday 1 to 5pm; Saturday 10am to 2pm.
4 Joslyn Art Museum: Nebraska's largest art museum. With over 11,000 works from the likes of Monet and Renoir not to mention a highly-regarded collection of Greek pottery. Eight to ten special exhibitions and concerts run annually. Free admission every Saturday 10am to noon.
5 Heartland of America Park: This 32 acre park has three fountains, one of which is the second tallest in the world and projects water 300 feet (91m) into the air featuring a nighttime light show which runs from April to November 1st annually. The park has several attractions and amenities including a 15 acre lake, walking trails, floral display and gondola and tour boat rides during the summer months. The fountain operates Monday through Friday 11am to 1pm and 7pm to midnight; Saturday and Sunday from 10am-midnight.
6 Omaha's Old Market: Explore this special area with quaint cobblestone streets lined with antique emporiums, boutiques, art galleries, and plenty of delicious sweet shops that pack the historic Old Market district. With more than 30 distinguishing Omaha restaurants, you'll find plenty of flavor in the Old Market.

Eppley Airfield is Nebraska's largest airport located three miles (5 km) northeast of the central business district of Omaha. With little traffic and congestion that plagues many US airports, at Eppley, you can step on a plane only a few minutes after leaving your hotel room. Large or small conference rooms are available for rent in the upper level of the north terminal. Interstates 680 and 480 are easy access to the airport. Ready car spaces and ground shuttle transportation are located on the first level of the surface parking structure.
