Atlanta is the cultural and economic epicenter and capital city of Georgia. As a national center for the arts, this upbeat city is home to some of the country's major performing arts disciplines in opera, ballet and theater and attracts many visitors to its amazing art museums and institutions. Atlanta has also played a major contributing role in the development of diverse genres of American music at different points in the city's history. Georgia is the seventh-most-visited state in the US, and tourists are drawn to Atlanta's culinary scene, comprising of a mix of international cuisines and traditional Southern dining. Although traditional Southern culture is part of Atlanta's cultural history, it is the background to one of the nation's leading international cities.

  1. The Masters: The world's biggest "major" golf championship is scheduled from April 11-14th at the Augusta National Golf Club in the city of Augusta, GA. Often described as a once-in-a-lifetime event to attend in person – if you are fortunate to get tickets.

  2. Final Four: If you like the energy and excitement of basketball make your way to the ultimate Final Four at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on April 6 & 8. Hospitality suites and official tickets for all rounds of the NCAA tournament are available on the website.

  3. High Museum of Art & Local Galleries: This well-renowned museum holds more than 11,000 works of art in its collection including 19th and 20th century American and European art with works from Battista, Monet and over 29 Renaissance and Baroque paintings and sculptures. Grab a light snack or a coffee at the High café or if you crave a more extensive menu enjoy the regional flavors served up at Table 1280 Restaurant located across Sifly Piazza by the High's main entrance.

  4. Georgia Aquarium This magnificent aquarium, the largest indoors in the world, is home to over 120,000 animals, representing 500 species of marine and fresh water fish including whale sharks, beluga whales, dolphins and manta rays. Enjoy one of North America's largest ocean exhibits and take part in one of the many behind the scene tours which offer views atop a live coral reef, tropical mangrove forest and a firsthand Q&A session with the biologists who care for the animals.

  5. Atlanta Zoo: This accredited zoological park holds the nation's largest collection of gorillas and orangutans and is one of the four zoos in the US with giant panda inhabitants. Live on the wild side (literally) by taking part in one of the many wild encounter opportunities the zoo has to offer. Feed a Komodo dragon or hand-feed one of the African elephants or black and white bears. These are experiences of a lifetime. .

  6. Atlanta Botanical Gardens: Relish the breathtaking beauty of this 30-acre garden park located in mid-town Atlanta. Here you will find a number of smaller themed gardens from formal Japanese rose gardens to the Fuqua Orchid Center, home to some of the largest collections of orchid species in the US. Take a walk along the Kendeda Canopy, a 600-foot-long (180 m) skywalk that provides visitors an aerial view of the city's urban forests from 40 feet in the air.

DeKalb Peachtree Airport is situated less than fifteen minutes from Atlanta's major business centers. As the second-busiest airport in Georgia, PDK lies on 700 acres of land in the northeastern part of the region. Air Passenger Duty (UK)
April 1, 2013


From April 1, 2013, Air Passenger Duty (APD) UK will be extended to include private jets and other smaller aircraft with an authorized takeoff weight of 5.7 tons or more. From this date, if you operate an avtur-fueled fixed-wing aircraft, taking off from a UK airport carrying passengers, you will be required to register for APD within 7 days of the flight occurring.
