San Diego
1 Balboa Park
This 1,400-acre park features a host of historical buildings, museums, gardens and green space. Balboa Park was originally created for the Panama California Exhibition of 1915-1916, and many of the buildings from that time are still in use. Highlights of this site include the Botanical Gardens and lily pond, the Museum of Man, the Museum of Natural History, the San Diego Museum of Art and the San Diego Zoo.
2 San Diego Zoo
Located in historic Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo is the largest and most famous zoo in the country. Exhibits include a spectacular variety of exotic animals, including giant pandas, which the zoo has successfully bred since 1999. The zoo prides itself on its animal enclosures that are inspired by nature and designed to mimic the animal's natural habitat. This is a must-see destination for animal lovers of all ages!
3 La Jolla Cove
You won't want to miss out on this "jewel" of San Diego. La Jolla features luxurious homes, upscale dining and unrivaled shopping. But the enclave's real gem is its coastline and breathtaking beaches, including La Jolla Cove. The water here is calm and ecologically protected, providing a safe home for colorful garibaldi, yellowtail, rays and leopard sharks. Tucked away with alluring curves and caves, La Jolla Cove is arguably the city's most photographed beach. Come see the view for yourself and you will understand why!
4 USS Midway Museum
Create lasting memories while exploring the USS Midway, the longest-serving U.S. Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century! Explore the ship's massive galley, engine room, crew's quarters, 4-acre flight deck, and much more. The museum guides are eager to share their personal stories, amusing anecdotes and impressive history of this historic Navy ship.
Torrey Pines State
Natural Reserve
This 1,750-acre reserve is dedicated to preserving the Torrey pine tree and other indigenous wildlife. The reserve is home to approximately 3,000 of these endangered pine trees, which only grow here and on Santa Rosa Island. Offering a variety of family-friendly and advanced trails, this natural reserve gives visitors of all ages and skill levels a stunning look at the untouched wilderness of Southern California and unrivaled views of the Pacific Ocean.
