Paris, France

Enjoy the long, lazy days of summer in the City of Lights. There is much to love about Paris in the summertime. Dine al fresco, enjoy a picnic, or peruse the local offerings at specialty boutiques and cafes. Take in one of the city's cultural arts festivals, featuring classical, jazz, or rock music with a spectacular backdrop of traditional gardens. And even though Paris is landlocked, the city transforms into a beach town during July and August. Stroll along the banks of the Seine to experience a beach scene, complete with sand, fun and sunbathers. When the sun sets, make like a local and head to the riverside — bring a bottle and join in some lively conversation well into the evening. Get swept up in the excitement of the 2017 Tour de France, starting this year in Germany, and moving through France for a 3-week race to the final victory in Paris.

  TOP ATTRACTIONS:
Paris, France

Eiffel Tower
No trip to Paris is complete without a trip to one of the most iconic monuments in the world. Built for the Paris Exhibition of 1889, the 307-meter tower is considered a masterful architectural feat and is one of the top tourist attractions in Paris. Visitors can take an elevator or walk up to the first, second or third level (reaching an elevation of 276 meters). At the top, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the Paris cityscape. Make a reservation at the Restaurant le Jules Vernes on the second level. This Michelin-starred restaurant serves up gourmet fare with views of a lifetime.

Louvre Museum
This Louvre Museum houses more than 30,000 works of art, from antiquities to medieval art and European paintings of the 15th to 19th centuries. As one of the most iconic art museums in the world, the Louvre features classical sculpture, Italian Renaissance art, 17th-century French paintings and much more. Take a guided tour of the museum's highlights, but you might need to plan a second visit if you want to see everything! The museum's most famous pieces include the Mona Lisa, La Gioconda, Venus de Milo sculpture, Victory of Samothrace, and Wedding Feast at Cana.

The Panthéon
The Panthéon’s history as a church dates back to the late 1700s, though it now serves as a national memorial and burial-place for many of France's historical and cultures figures — including Voltaire, Rousseau, Marie Curie, Victor Hugo and Emile Zola. The Panthéon was the first building in Paris to return to the architectural simplicity of classical antiquity. This monumental building inspired the design and construction of other notable structures such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Madeleine, and the Bourse. Join one of the complimentary guided onsite tours to get a breathtaking view of Paris from the Panthéon dome.

Avenue des Champs-Elysées
Translated as "Elysian Fields," this monumental boulevard represents the city's grandeur and history at its finest. The avenue is now one of the top shopping destinations in Paris, but it also historically served as a meeting point for politicians, intellectuals and revolutionaries. Stroll the massive sidewalks past tea houses, designer boutiques, patisserie, fine dining establishments, museums and theaters. Make a trip to the Jardin des Champs-Élysées, a spacious park located in the 8th arrondissement, featuring historic buildings, monuments and sculptures in a tranquil garden setting.

The Luxembourg Gardens
With a history spanning back to the 17th century, this stunning natural park is designed in the French classical style, with regal fountains, picturesque gardens and stately statues. The Gardens serve as popular destinations for local Parisians, who enjoy picnicking and relaxing on the grounds. The 17th-century fountain basin has a Renaissance monument featuring the river gods of the Rhône and the Seine, and the large pond is popular with small children who use it to sail miniature boats. Younger visitors may also enjoy the Grand Guignol, a traditional marionette show, or the Théâtre du Luxembourg's charming puppet shows.
